Situated at the ecological crossroads of the three great ecosystems of North America, Cedar Creek Natural History Area is like a miniature copy of Minnesota. It is a complex of conifer stands, deciduous forests, savannas, prairies, wetlands, open water, and even old agricultural fields. The area supports nearly forty percent of the vascular plant species of the entire state, though it occupies only a ten-thousandth the state's area. In this web site, the biological plant diversity of Cedar Creek at the turn of the twenty-first century is cataloged, illustrated, and organized for ready access. Please use the indexes at the left to access the material. |
