Visiting Cedar Creek
Areas nearby open to the public
Helen Allison Savanna is an 80-acre tract of beautiful bur oak savanna that
is situated at the corner of Anoka County Roads 26 and 15, just off the
southeast corner of Cedar Creek. It is owned by The Nature
Conservancy and administered as an Scientific and Natural Area by
the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
A small parking area and registration box is at
the southeast corner of the site.
There are no facilities, and no collecting, but
one is free to wander over this marvelous site.
Anoka County Regional Park at Martin Lake has a Picnic Area and fine
boardwalk running from Martin Lake west to Island Lake. Unfortunately this
species rich wetland is being invaded by purple loosestrife and
glossy-leaved buckthorn.
