Conducting Research at Cedar Creek

Preamble: In December 2001, the Land Use Committee of Cedar Creek Natural History Area met to discuss issues related to experimental and observational research at Cedar Creek. A major concern that arose in this discussion was that the current review process was too slow, too cumbersome, and seemed, at times, to be obscure. The Land Use Committee recommended that a permanent review panel be established that would uniformly evaluate all CCNHA research applications. This would replace the ad hoc reviews that have long been the tradition. The goal of this change is to create a more rapid and more transparent review process that serves the needs of a much more active research site. This recommendation was converted into a draft of a new CCNHA research review process that was distributed for comments at the end of this summer. The following material incorporates the changes suggested during the comment period.
