Description:
In July 1999, aboveground biomass was clipped at 8 points (4 in the canopy, 4
out of the canopy) in the nine plots of E142.   A .5 by .5 m frame was placed on
the ground and plants inside the frame were clipped and sorted to shrubs
(anything with a woody stem) and herbs (non-woody stemmed plants). Anything
rooted in the framed area was clipped.  These biomass samples were dried and
weighed, and will be ground separately by plot, canopy position, and biomass
type.  All points in the same canopy position and plot will be ground together.
